ORMOC CITY, Philippines – A little over three years in hiding, a man charged with frustrated murder finally fell into the hands of the police.
Romeo Ollave, now 52 years old, single and a resident of Barangay Magaswe but temporarily residing in the mountain Barangay Cabingtan was surprised when operatives swooped into the neighborhood and his house where he was arrested.
Senior Insp. Shevert Alvin Machete, chief of the city’s Police Station 1, told The Freeman that Ollave went into hiding after he hacked with a bolo a certain Elizer Lamoste in 2008.
The victim suffered right eye damage as a result and was confined in a hospital.
On January 2010, a warrant of arrest against Ollave, under Criminal Case R-ORM-09-00038-CR for frustrated murder, was issued by Judge Apolinario Buaya of RTC Branch 35 based in Ormoc City.
Ollave, listed by the police one of the ten most wanted people in the city, is now detained at the Police station 1 cell.
The court recommended a bail of P200,000 for his temporary liberty. —(FREEMAN)
