E.B. MAGALONA, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL – The Philippine Ports Authority has allocated P100 million for the rehabilitation and development of a port in Brgy. Tuburan of this town.
This was disclosed by Rep. Alfredo Benitez (3rd dist., Neg. Occ) on Sunday, adding that the design of the proposed project is now completed, and will soon be presented to Mayor David Albert Lacson.
Earlier, Lacson welcomed the effort of Benitez to push for a budget in the rehabilitation of Tuburan Port, which is the closest route from Banate port in Iloilo to northern Negros.
Benitez said he will meet with Transportation and Communications Secretary Mar Roxas to follow up the Tuburan Port development.
Lacson said the management of the Victorias Milling Company has pointed out the need to rehabilitate the Tuburan Port that is used in the hauling of sugarcane tops from Iloilo.
The Tuburan RORO (roll-on roll-off) port accommodates fishing and commercial vessels that transport goods and rice cargo from Iloilo.
