TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippine s— The Bohol Provincial Board had dismissed the complaint filed by Jetafe town Vice Mayor Simon Torreon against Mayor Cary Camacho.
The letter-complaint accusing Camacho for “conduct unbecoming of a municipal official” was returned to Torreon “without action” because it was not verified by a lawyer.
The PB committee that tackled the issue cited PB rules mandating any complaint against an elective official should be verified or notarized.
The committee report, which was adopted by the PB, was signed by its chair Venzencio Arcamo, vice chair Brigido Imboy and member Gerardo Garcia.
The PB, in its session presided over by senior PB Member Dionisio Balite, then advised Torreon to make his complaint formal and verified “so that the PB committee could legally act on it.”
Torreon, in his letter to the PB, said the alleged unbecoming acts of the mayor were contained in the police record dated last October 7.
He urged the PB to conduct a probe “to determine the mayor’s accountability and to deter acts and unbecoming conduct of officials we hold honorable.”
Torreon alleged that the mayor threatened him for reporting the matte to the PB, but it was not clear in the police blotter what was reported by the vice-mayor. (FREEMAN)
