Calibration Services now available in Negros Occ

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Calibration services for weighing scales, gasoline, pumping meters and fuel tankers are now available at the Provincial Metrology Center at San Juan Street in this city.

This was after the Negros Occidental provincial government and the DOST conducted a demo on calibration in this facility to let the public know of its availability.

DOST-6 regional director Rowen Gelonga said the center also offers services at any time a company tanker needs it as a requirement before being allowed to travel.

“Our main goal is to ensure accuracy, thus protecting consumers’ welfare, and to generate income,” said Gelonga, adding that the center can ensure that mass and volume equipment have accurate readings.

Inaugurated during the time of former governor and now Kabankalan City Mayor Isidro Zayco, this was the first satellite laboratory-calibration center in Western Visayas, said Gelonga.

Before, tankers wait for the weekly schedule of the calibration that DOST conducts, but now a client can have the needed services at any time, he said.

Weighing scales used in markets can also be calibrated in this center, said Gelonga during the demo, which was also attended by provincial administrator Enrique Pinongan, provincial engineer Ernie Mapa and DOST-Negros Occidental director Allan Daraug.
