SIQUIJOR, SIQUIJOR ,Philippines — A series of training for trainers on organic agriculture in Central Visayas has been started by the Department of Agriculture-7 in Siquijor last week, to be followed in Cebu this week, and finally in Negros Oriental and Bohol this December.
DA's agricultural program coordinating officer Bernadith Bunado said the training is about the implementation of Republic Act 10068, or the Organic Agriculture Act of 2010, promoting and developing the practice of organic agriculture in the country.
Bunado told trainers in Siquijor to encourage more farmers to go organic.
Siquijor Governor Orlando Fua, Jr. vowed to institutionalize funding to support the farmers' shift to sustainable organic and ecological food production model in the province.
