Thousands flock to Negros Occ job fair
BACOLOD CITY ,Philippines — More than 2,000 applicants flocked to the two-day Job Fair in Victorias City last Saturday and in Silay City last Sunday.
Applicants came from these two cities, Talisay and Bacolod cities, and the towns of E. B. Magalona and Murcia, all in the 3rd district.
At least 24 companies offered employment during the job fair that was facilitated by Rep. Alfredo Abelardo "Albee" Benitez (3rd district), with the support of the Victorias and Silay LGUs.
Benitez said the event was another project to help his constituents, many of whom were unemployed.
The congressman also thanked the DOLE, the Overseas Workers and Welfare Administration and the city's respective Public Employment Service Offices.
A total of 1,077 applicants registered at the Job Fair in Victorias, while 960 job-seekers were accommodated for screening and interviews.
A popular choice among the applicants was Belle Grande Manila Bay, the integrated resort, gaming and hotel complex of the AB Leisure Global Inc.
Almost one-third of the total registrants applied for close to 7,000 job openings in the gaming and hotel operations, and the food, beverage and shopping outlets of the company.
