Arrest of 150 wanted persons ordered
ILOILO CITY, Philippines — The Police Regional Office-Region 6 recently ordered its provincial and city police offices to arrest at least 150 wanted persons every month.
Chief Supt. Cipriano Querol, Jr., PRO-6 director, said the order came from PNP Chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome directing the 17 police regional offices in the country to accomplish the target.
Part of the accounting of arrested persons is the number of apprehended persons done by the national support units (NSUs) like the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Regional Intelligence Office (RIO). The number would be carried over to the city or province where the wanted person was arrested, said Querol.
Just like in the national level, there will be a periodic performance audit starting this month to determine who among the field commanders perform at par with the job and fall short of expectation.
Crime, insurgency and domestic threats remain to be the major concerns, thus the PNP laid out strategies to address these. Part of the strategies would be the arrest of wanted persons, the outcome of which has been proven to be a key in crime reduction, said Querol. (FREEMAN)
