ORMOC CITY, Philippines —Mayor Eric Codilla yesterday announced that the city government will be holding on October 19 an investment roadshow and conference that would open the city further to more investors.
The event, dubbed as the Board of Investment (BOI) Roadshow and 1st Ormoc City Investment Conference (ICON), in line with the city's 64th Charter Day celebration on October 20.
Codilla told The FREEMAN he was optimistic that the incoming activity will bolster the economic ascension of the city.
"This BOI Roadshow and ICON, with focus on different business sectors and will definitely add to the status of Ormoc as an investment hub. This too will become a prelude to the visit on February next year of Hawaiian (U.S.A) officials and businessmen who have plans to invest here," said the mayor.
Emil Tingson, city's BPLO, said the city is expecting 200 participants from local businessmen and those coming from the different places of Regions 6, 7 and 8 in the Visayas.
DTI Undersecretary Zenaida Maglaya, DTI-Leyte director Desiderio Belas Jr. and other top government officials will grace the event and participate in counseling interested entrepreneurs by matching them to their desired fields of business.
The priority sectors are agri-business, tourism and information, and communication technology, among others, said Tingson.
Maglaya is set to deliver the message "Enhancing Competitiveness through the PBR." There will also be a MOA signing between Philippine Business Registry and the city government during the event. (FREEMAN)
