BACOLOD CITY ,Philippines — Three people were killed when a 10-wheeler truck rammed their house in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental Thursday, police said.
City Police traffic investigation chief, SPO2 Roylen Bahiting, said the victims–Antonio Hentil, 36, his son Julieto, 8, and his 11-month-old nephew Clifford Saylo-on–were declared dead on arrival at the San Carlos City District Hospital.
Bahiting said the brakes of the cargo truck owned by the San Carlos City Engineer's Office and driven by Edison Garnica, 57, malfunctioned while the vehicle was cruising along the highway of sitio Ducog-Ducog in Brgy. Rizal of the city.
The truck hit the house of the victims and that of their neighbor, said Bahiting.
Garnica is now detained at the police station jail of San Carlos City police station, pending further investigations of the accident.
