Boy, 13, admits killing girl, 9

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines  — A 13-year-old boy surrendered to the Bacolod City Police Women's and Children's Complaints Desk and admitted killing a 9-year-old girl, whose decomposing body was found near a creek in a sugarcane plantation at Purok Rose in Brgy. Cabug of this city last week.

The boy said the victim, Jessica Patiño, also of this barangay, followed him to the sugarcane plantation at about 8 a.m. Thursday, and stoned him.

Angered, the boy said he pushed her into the creek and mauled her. He then smashed Patiño's head with a stone, pulled down her shorts and underwear before leaving, but did not rape her.

He also admitted he did it because he was harboring anger against Patiño's elder sister.

WCCD chief, Insp. Jovy Cabcaban, said the boy was endorsed to the Social Welfare Development Center as mandate by law on juvenile offenders. (FREEMAN)
