DJ slain by 3 in a club fight
BACOLOD CITY ,Philippines —An 18-year-old club disc jockey was brutally killed by a group who stabbed and shot him at the Goldenfields Commercial Complex in this city last Friday dawn, police said.
The fatality was identified as Ruben de la Rosa, of Crossing Punta Taytay in Brgy. Sum-ag, said Chief Insp. Danilo Francisco, Station 8 commander.
De la Rosa, who sustained two stab and gunshot wounds on his back, was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival, Francisco said.
Investigation conducted by PO3 Anthony Marijana showed that de la Rosa had a fight with his girlfriend, Ma. Bea Candido, 19, in front of the "Thunder Lips Bar" when "alias Champaigne" and another unidentified woman came and asked them if they had seen the manager of the bar.
De la Rosa replied in a manner that apparently offended "alias Champaigne" and her companion who called their other companions, Francisco said.
Minutes later, the woman's companions, identified as Roberto Garcia, 18, Charlito Vergara, 26, and a 15-year-old boy–all of Purok Lilang in Brgy. Banago–arrived and confronted de la Rosa.
A commotion ensued, and one of them stabbed de la Rosa in the back. When dela Rosa was already lying on the pavement, another shot him with an improvised shotgun (sulpak), police records showed.
Garcia, Vergara and the minor were arrested after the incident and are now detained at the Police Station 8, while "alias Champaigne" and her unidentified companion evaded arrest.
Murder charges are being readied against Garcia and Vergara while the minor will be referred to the Bacolod Social Development Center.
Bacolod City Police director Sr. Supt. Ricardo de la Paz said he has tasked City Police deputy director, Supt. Santiago Rapiz, who also heads the Operation Night Watch, to conduct visibility patrol regularly in the area.
