Dumaguete has new OIC police chief

DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines — Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria welcomed Supt. Crisaleo Tolentino, the newly installed officer-in-charge of the Dumaguete City Police, replacing Sr. Insp. Eduardo Oira, during a turnover of command rites held yesterday at the mayor's office.

Oira turned over his post to Tolentino, after Insp. Romulo Llado of the Dumaguete Police Office, read the release order. Together with the mayor, Negros Oriental Police provincial director Sr. Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas witnessed the ceremony.

Lawas explained to Sagarbarria that the designation of Tolentino as the new and permanent chief of the City Police will follow after the request is approved by the Police Regional Office-7. At this time, Tolentino's function will be on an OIC basis yet, he said.

Sagarbarria said he picked Tolentino because he is a true-blooded Dumagueteño whose family has been residing at Brgy. Batinguel of this city.

He said he was optimistic that Tolentino will exert extra effort in giving the best performance for city, especially in solving the murder of lawyer Archer Martinez and other crimes here.

Tolentino was the former chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in this city before he was transferred to PRO-7 headquarters in Cebu City. — THE FREEMAN
