Top Boholanos awarded on 157th Bohol Day

TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines — Three Boholano professionals and several outstanding farmers received awards for outstanding performance in their respective fields during the 157th Bohol Foundation Day held in this city last week.

Doctor Cesar Saloma got a special citation for Boholano achiever for education; Catalino Ordinarion for agriculture and General Charlie Holganza for military service.

The Suhid sa Malampusong Mag-uumang Bol-anon 2011 awardees were: Arsenio Alingig of Ubay town for Most Outstanding Rice Farmer/Hybrid Rice; Silverio Miano of Mabini (Most Outstanding Rice Farmer adopting integrated rice-based system); Rosita Litub Quipit of Carmen (Most Outstanding Corn Farmer adopting corn farming system); Vicente Lumianrias of Trinidad (Most Outstanding High Value Commercial Crop farmer category); and Manuel Evarito Vllalon of Loon (Most Outstanding Fisherfolk).

Antonio Valentos Omamalin of Carmen (Most Outstanding Organic Farmer); Guillermo Aviles of Jagna (Most Outstanding in Fish Culture); Gliceria Ligtas of Alburquerque (Most Outstanding Small Animal Raiser); Orlando Rivera of Carmen (Most Outstanding Coconut Farmer); Reynaldo Quilicot of Carmen (Most Outstanding Farm Family); Cantubod Association for Rehabilitation of Environment of Danao (Most Outstanding Small Farmer Organization); and Bonbon Fishermen Association of Mabini (Most Outstanding Small Fishermen Organization).

Chatto, for his part, received a plaque of recognition for Bohol province as the Environmental Learning Destination in the Country from Becky Paz, deputy chief of party of EcoGov and Elizabeth May Ybanez, regional coordinator of EcoGov. - THE FREEMAN
