Lakbay Buhay Kalusugan caravan arrives in Negros Occidental
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines —The Lakbay Buhay Kalusugan (LBK), a health fiesta caravan of the Department of Health (DOH), arrived Tuesday in Bacolod and proceeded to Sagay City for a two-day stop yesterday and today (June 30 and July 1).
While in Sagay, it served indigent residents of all 25 barangays of the city, DOH-6 regional director Ariel Valencia said.
LBK is a comprehensive health promotion caravan of the DOH that informs and educates families in remote communities, in line with President Aquino's health agenda of universal access to quality health care, he said.
The LBK bus is customized with consultation and examination clinics, and a health promotion arena of interactive exhibit, health classes, story-telling sessions, and entertainment shows, he said.
The target clients of the LBK are men and women of reproductive age, pregnant and breastfeeding women, couples with children 0 to 5 years old, and fathers and young couples, he said.
Valencia said LBK was launched this March, and has since been promoting health-seeking behaviors to fathers, mothers of reproductive age and their young children aged 14 and below in remote communities.
After Sagay City, the LBK will go to Bohol, Bukidnon, Zamboanga del Norte, Compostela Valley, South Cotabato and Maguindanao provinces. (FREEMAN)
