Sen. Villar gives P2M for boardwalk project
DUMAGUETE CITY ,Philippines — The city government has received another financial assistance, this time from Senator Manny Villar's priority development assistance fund (PDAF), to fund the continuing construction of the Rizal Boulevard boardwalk project.
Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria announced this yesterday morning, saying: "Nadawat na sa syudad sa Dumaguete niadtong niaging adlaw ang salapi gikan ni Senator Manuel Villar."
The city had more than P10 million pesos already in financial assistance from the senator for the massive development of the famed Rizal Boulevard, especially the construction of the boardwalk, which city information officer Steve Gabriel said is the show window of the city.
Last week, Senator Vicente Sotto III gave additional financial assistance of P1 million from his PDAF. Gabriel said other senators who shared their PDAFs for the city's boardwalk project were Juan Miguel Zubiri, TG Guingona III, Francis Pangilinan, Ralf Recto and Chiz Escudero.
Meanwhile, Rep. Juan Ponce Castaner Enrile, Jr, (1st district, Cagayan), son of Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, will arrive in Dumaguete on June 9 to see Sagarbarria and then to visit other cities and towns of Negros Oriental.
