BUENAVISTA, BOHOL , Philippines --- The Commission on Higher Education-Region 7 had granted Buenavista Community College (BCC) of this town in Bohol the government authority to operate and offer five programs, effective academic year 2010-2011.
These are Bachelor in Elementary Education, Bachelor in Secondary Education, Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
The authority to operate and to offer programs-contained in CHEDRO-7 Order no.10, series of 2011 dated May 18, 2011-was issued yesterday, May 30 by regional director Dr. Amelia Biglete.
The BCC started in 2001 as an extension class of the Central Visayas State College of Agriculture, Forestry and Technology (now the Bohol Island State University-Bilar Campus).
Two years ago, it became an independent college, which the Buenavista local government has funded, maintained and operated.
With about more than 300 students and at least 16 faculty members, the presence of the BCC in this town has benefited students from here and the neighboring towns of Inabanga, Getafe and even Talibon.
Biglete gave the CHEDRO-7 order to Mayor Ronald Lowell Tirol, who is also the chair of the BCC Board of Trustees and to Dr. Rena Duallo, BCC president.
Present during the official conferment of the grant were trustees board members Dr. Lourdes Bolo, Gina Lerio, Evangeline Suarez, Efren Logrono, Elmer Mero and Councilor Federico Pacaldo.
This was witnessed by former mayor Elsa Tirol, Councilor Jourdel Mario Anabieza, municipal administrator Apolonio Aparece, Rosita Celocia, Wilvia Manatad, Nora Demeterio and lawyer Dave Duallo.
