Girl, 18, gang-raped by her BF and 7 others

- Danny B. Dangcalan -

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – An 18-year-old girl complained that she was gang-raped by eight men, including her boyfriend, during a supposedly birthday celebration in Brgy. Taculing in this city early morning Sunday, police said yesterday.

The victim is now being confined at the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center for injuries she sustained when she fought back, said Chief Insp. Jovy Cabcaban of the city’s Police Office Women and Children’s Complaints Desk (WCCD).

She narrated that her boyfriend texted her at about 1 a.m. Sunday inviting her to come to his house. When she arrived, she saw him and his friends having drinks.

The victim claimed that the eight invited her to join them, and when she became intoxicated, they dragged her to a vacant lot five kilometers away from her boyfriend’s residence and took turns in raping her, Cabcaban said.

Aside from raping her, the victim said the men took her cellular phone, earrings, and cash and abandoned her in that vacant lot, Cabcaban said.

After they left, the victim was able to seek help and was brought to the hospital, Cabcaban said.

City Police Office director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz said a medical examination by medico legal officer Eli Cong showed that the victim had several lacerations in her sex organ.

WCCD operatives have already launched a manhunt operation to arrest the suspects who were nowhere to be found as of press time yesterday.

Dela Paz however said the police will file rape charges against the perpetrators who he added were already identified.  - THE FREEMAN
