GSIS plans more service kiosks in EV

- Edgar Allan Vilbar -

TACLOBAN CITY , Philippines  — More service kiosks would be put up by the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) in strategic areas throughout Eastern Visayas to serve its members better.

In a meeting held this week, GSIS officials wanted a kiosk for each city, another for the provincial government, and more for clustered municipalities. Based on their computation, a ratio of 1500 members for each kiosk will be enough to decongest the transactions of the total members.

In the proposal, the local government units hosting kiosks will shoulder the cost of electricity and security.

While there is little concern in the cities, the clustering on municipalities posed a greater problem on the grouping submitted by the Manila office because of the considerable distances between them, prompting the meeting to resolve this.

The 10 clusters now under consideration are: Cluster 97-Catarman to Biri, Northern Samar (5,703 members); Cluster 98-Laoang to Lapinig, N. Samar (4,002); Cluster 99-Tanauan to Burauen, Leyte (6,065); Cluster 100-Palo to Babatngon, Leyte (6,082); Cluster 101-Jaro to Leyte, Leyte (3,287); Cluster 102-Inopacan to Calubian, Leyte (3,056); Cluster 103-San Isidro to Albuera, Leyte (4,062); Cluster 104-Hilongos, Leyte to Limasawa, So. Leyte (6,585); Cluster 105-Jiabong to Zummaraga, Samar (6,506); and Cluster 106-Balangkayan to Arteche, Eastern Samar (6,889).
