Reshuffling of men at Iloilo City Police

- Jennifer P. Rendon -

ILOILO CITY, , Philippines — The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) carried out a revamp or reshuffle of its key personnel on Monday.

The reshuffling was partly to accommodate 10 new officials-three of whom had ranks of senior inspector and the rest as inspectors-who were assigned to the ICPO, said Sr. Supt. Marietto Valerio, city police director.

He also admitted that it was partly based on the results of the assessment of performance earlier conducted.

"I could not say they have performed poorly. Meron lang kakulangan that they need to improve. Assigning them to a different post might make a difference," Valerio said but refused to name the officials who performed poorly.

The reshuffling order now placed Chief Insp. Joseph Euge Almaquer as the new chief of Jaro Police Station replacing Chief Insp. Jay Malong.

Almaquer previously headed the City Proper Police Station but was relieved and assigned to the Iloilo Police Provincial Office following the EastWest Bank robbery last January.

Valerio assigned Malong as team leader of the ICPO Special Operations Group/Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group, which was headed by Supt. Noel Lamsis, ICPO deputy director for operations.

Superintendent Orly Gabinete is now chief of the newly-merged intelligence section and investigation and detective management section. He will have Sr. Insp. Lorenez Losario, former La Paz Police chief, as his deputy chief.

Chief Insp. Dande Deocampo will head ICPO' intelligence section, while Insp. Rey Sumagaysay will head the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, replacing Insp. Ronan Teñala.

Still, Valerio said, reshuffling could still be done due to the exigency of service. — THE FREEMAN
