VP Binay to speak at climate change forum

DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines — Vice President Jejomar Binay will be the guest speaker at a symposium on climate change at the Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) in this city today, March 16.

NORSU president Dr. Henry Sojor said the symposium will focus on precautionary measures against climate change toward farmers' poverty alleviation.

Sojor said the forum was initiated by the former congressman Herminio Teves of the 3rd district of Negros Oriental to help the farmers to improve their livelihood and to collect ideas on the effects of the climate change to them.

Teves, for his part, said he will be sharing his ideas through green energy using jatropa bio-diesel, a project he started few years ago, to help solve the fuel hike price. — THE FREEMAN
