ORMOC CITY - The 120-strong Alikaraw Festival contingent of Hilongos town in Leyte earned the judges' nod with a performance rating of 95 percent to win the 3rd Ormoc Sinulog and take the P30,000 grand champion's prize.
Tribu Langub of Hindang town came in second with a rating of 85.33 percent to get P20,000 cash prize, while Ormoc City's Holy Child contingent landed third with 82.33 percent and the P10,000 prize.
Alikaraw was a two-time champion of Kasadyaan Festival in Tacloban City, a 3rd placer in the Cebu Sinulog 2007, and a 3rd placer in the 2006 Aliwan Festival in Manila.
This Hilongos' pride, however, would not be participating in this year's Sinulog of Cebu City due to lack of funds, according to an official of the delegation who requested not to be named.
This year's staging of the Ormoc Sinulog was headed by Junie Yu. (FREEMAN)
