GolfX Sports Hub, the premier indoor golf simulator in BGC, Taguig City, was transformed into a fashion runway during the launch of the Original Penguin Golf 2024 collection.
As they say, there’s no better time to take up golf and the launch event was the perfect opportunity for some guests to try the sport. Well, just making the club move around swiftly was already a feat for the non-athletic me. And though I may not have that perfect swing yet, at least I looked good (in Original Penguin Golf, of course!) trying.
Blending sustainability with style
It’s all about retro florals, pastels, playful geometric prints and yes, sustainable fabrics for the modern golfer. The men’s collection features key prints such as the iconic Pete motifs, playful flashcards, novelty patterns and retro geometric designs.
The ‘60s Heritage Print Polo blends sustainability with style. Crafted with recycled polyester, this men’s golf polo shirt is a more sustainable clothing choice. It’s lightweight and has better sweat absorption to keep you cool and feeling dry on the greens.
“It’s part of our sustainable collection. Those tagged under EcoVero or CoolMax are created using sustainable fabrics,” shared Justin Pua, managing director, Original Penguin Philippines. “One is created from recycled plastics — from plastic bottles to fabrics — while the other uses organic cotton. What makes it organic is that the farmers don’t use pesticides and use less water in growing the cotton plant.”
There are also golf shirts with fun prints like cocktail glasses and whisky bottles, etc., that depict how laidback and cool Pete, the Penguin guy, is.
“We’ve also incorporated Pete playing golf in some of the designs,” noted Justin.
The Pete ’N the Course Blocked Polo features an all-over pattern of Pete, celebrating the iconic penguin. It goes well with the ‘60s Floral Pete Crossover Pants. The stretch waistband offers a comfortable and flexible fit for unrestricted movement on the course.
For the women’s collection, you’ll find whimsical florals, geometric patterns, and retro groovy designs.
The Zip Polo with Mesh has a subtle zip design with a breathable mesh for added comfort in every swing. The Geo Printed Sideblocked Skort features small geometric prints and color-blocking on the sides for a stylish, functional look.
The Groovy Pete Printed Zip Polo showcases a fun, retro print of the brand’s icon, while the Flounce Skort with Ribbed Waistband offers elegance and practicality. The Veronica Romper with Mesh Sleeves provides a chic option with its mesh detailing.
The Floral Printed Zip Dress with Rib Details combines vibrant floral prints with ribbed accents. The Solid Sun Protection Top is a practical choice for sunny days on the golf course.
And just like the men’s line, the fabrics are enhanced with moisture-wicking technology to keep its wearer dry and comfortable. The collection features 30-percent recycled polyester under the “Re-Originals” tagline, reflecting the brand’s commitment to eco-conscious fashion.
