Hepe ng Rescue 117 natodas matapos tumanggap ng parangal

MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan, Philippines — Binalot ng kalungkutan ang taunang parangal para sa disaster rescue group sa Central Luzon kamakalawa.

Ito ay dahil sa pagkamatay ng 63-anyos na pinuno ng Rescue 117 sa Paombong, Bulacan ilang sandali matapos tanggapin ang Hall of Fame Award na ipinagkaloob ng Office of Civil Defense III.

Ang nasabing parangal ay isinagawa sa covered court ng Department of Social Welfare and Development Office III sa Social Action Center of Pampanga sa Brgy. Maimpis, San Fernando City, Pampanga noong Lunes.

Sa nasabing parangal, tinanggap din ng Bulacan ang parangal para sa Most Outstanding Provincial Disas­ter Risk and Reduction Manage­ment.

Ayon kay Liz Mungcal, hepe ng  Bulacan Provincial Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office, katatanggap lang ni Aris Jumaquio ng ikatlong sunod na Most Outstanding Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) rescue group award ng ito ay atakihin sa puso.

 “We were one seat apart and I was trying to reach out and congratulate him, but he did not move,” ani Mungcal.

Sinabi niya na matapos tanggapin ang parangal ng Rescue 117, nagpakuha pa ng souvenir picture si Jumaquio  kasama sina OCD-III Director Josie Timoteo at Bulacan Provincial Administrator Jim Valerio.

Pagkatapos nito ay nagbalik sa upuan si Jumaquio at hindi na gumalaw. Ilang kasapi ng pangunahing rescue group na dumalo sa parangal ang agad na sumaklolo kay Jumaquio bago ito isinugod sa Mother Theresa of Calcutta Hospital, ngunit hindi sila nagtagumpay.
