Vice mayor iprinoklamang solon

ILAGAN, Isabela, Philippines – Pormal nang iprinoklama ng Comelec sa 2nd distrito ng Cagayan na si Abulog Vice Mayor Baby Aline Vargas-Alfonso, bilang bagong halal na representative sa katatapos na special elections kapalit ng kanyang yumaong ama na si ex-Rep. Florencio Vargas na pumanaw noong Hunyo 2010.

Mahinahon naman na tinanggap ni dating Governor Edgar Ramones Lara ang kanyang pagkatalo laban kay Alfonso bilang paggalang sa pasyang ibi­nigay ng kanilang mga kababayan.

Ayon kay Atty. Catherine Allas, Cagayan election supervisor, ang mga bayan ng Rizal at Calayan na umaabot sa 19,000 boto ay hindi pa nabibilang subalit isinagawa na ang proklamasyon dahil sa malaking kalamangan ni Alfonso laban kay Lara.

Ito ay matapos na lumabas sa talaan ng provincial board of canvassers na lumamang si Alfonso ng 42,874 matapos makakuha ng 69,461 votes laban kay Lara na may 26,587 votes.

“We can now look forward to resuming the plans and programs of my father which had been held in abeyance since his death. We also doff our hat to our opponent who had conducted a high-level campaign. He can still offer his services to the people even in a private capacity,” pahayag naman ni Alfonso.

Si Alfonso ay sinuportahan ng pamilya Enrile sa pangunguna ni Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile at Cagayan Gov. Alvaro Antonio bilang haligi ng Team Cagayan, habang si Lara naman ay suportado ng Li­beral Party sa pangu­­nguna ni Pangulong Noynoy Aquino.
