Ampatuans 'persona non grata'
BAGUIO CITY , Philippines — Nanawagan si Baguio City Mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr. sa mga kapwa alkalde na miyembro ng League of Cities sa bansa, na ideklara ang Ampatuan clan at mga taga-suporta sa Maguindanao na persona non grata (unwanted).
“They represent the highest form of political arrogance for clinging to power regardless of the oath they have sworn to undertake, which is to protect peoples’ lives, their liberty and property and to respect the rule of law,” ani Bautista.
Si Mayor Bautista na kauna-unahang lokal na opisyal na nagdeklara laban sa Ampatuan clan na hindi welcome sa Baguio ang nagsabing lumampas ang mga suspek sa “constitutionally established freedoms of the press and speech.”
“This is not only a crime against representatives of those who struggle to give life to the meaning of democracy or to the Filipino people, but “it is a crime against humanity,” pahayag pa ni Bautista.
“No word can best describe the barbaric acts brought by [those] monsters, while the Ampatuans have a right to due process, the massacre happens to be beyond constitutional bounds because what transpired was a direct attack on democracy,”paliwanag pa ni Bautista.
“I urge my fellow mayors, regardless of political affiliation, to join me in declaring them as ‘persona non grata’ in their respective fields,” pakiusap ni Bautista sa mga alkalde. Nina Doris Franche, Joy Cantos AT Artemio Dumlao
