Paglabag ng mining firm sa IP rights tatalupan sa Kamara

MANILA, Philippines — Pinaiimbestigahan ni House Deputy Majority Leader at ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo ang umano’y paglabag ng PHILSAGA Mining Corporation sa karapatan ng Indigenous Peoples (IP) sa Consuelo at San Andres, Bunawan, Agusan del Sur.

Maghahain umano si Tulfo, kasama sina ACT-CIS party-list Representatives Edvic Yap at Jocelyn Tulfo, Benguet Rep. Eric Yap, at Quezon City Rep. Ralph Tulfo ng resolusyon para makapagsagawa ng imbestigasyon ang House Committees on Indigenous Cultural Communities and Indigenous Peoples at on Natural Resources.

Layunin umano ng imbestigasyon ang pagpapalakas sa Indigenous Peoples Rights Act of 1997 at Philippine Mining Act.

Ayon kay Tulfo, nakatanggap ang kanyang tanggapan ng reklamo mula kina Mary Jane Rodrigo-Hallasgo at Amatorio Rodrigo, na kumakatawan sa Rodrigo clan. Sila ay miyembro ng tribong Manobo.

Ayon sa mga solon, inalis ang karapatan ng mga IP sa kanilang ancestral land, sa natural resources, at shares sa royalty mula sa minahan.

“The mining operations of PHILSAGA Mining Corp. permanently deplete the resources of the ancestral land to the detriment of the rightful ICC/IPs who are entitled to royalty shares,” sabi ng mga solon.
