QC-LGU may hiwalay na graduation rites para sa LGBTQIA+ community sa Hunyo

MANILA, Philippines — Mayroon nang hiwalay na graduation rites na ipatutupad ang Quezon City government para sa mga graduating high school o college students sa Quezon City na hindi napayagan na mag-martsa na nakasuot ng kanilang march in gender-affirming attire.

Ito ay makaraang ianunsyo ng QC-LGU na sa Hunyo 22 ay magsasagawa ng “Graduation Rights: March with Pride in QC” na isang espesyal na aktibidad para ipagdiwang ang ika-85 taong anibersaryo ng QC.

Sinasabing may ilang mag-aaral na bahagi ng LGBTQIA+ community ay hindi napayagan na mag martsa kung hindi isusuot ang dress code ng paaralan kahit na may utos ang Department of Education na ipatupad ang “gender-responsive basic education policy” sa lahat ng paaralan.

 “Graduation rites are everyone’s rights, regardless of expression.In Quezon City, you have the right to express your truth, no matter your SOGIE,”sabi ni  Belmonte.

May hanggang Hunyo 7 naman ang mga mag-aaral mula sa naturang komunidad para magrehistro at makasama sa naturang graduation rites.
