128 bagong kaso ng Omicron subvariants, natukoy

MANILA, Philippines — Natukoy ng Department of Health (DOH) ang 128 bagong kaso ng Omicron COVID-19 subvariants sa panibagong genome sequencing noong Enero 3 hanggang 9.

Sa pinakahuling biosurveillance report, 52 sa mga bagong kaso ang klasipikadong BA.2.3.20, isa ang kaso ng BN.1, 10 kaso ng BA.5, 28 kaso ng XBB, 13 kaso ng XBC, at 24 na iba pang uri ng Omicron subvariants. Kabilang sa 10 kaso ng BA.5 ang tatlong kaso ng BF.7 at isang BQ.1. Isang bagong kaso ng Delta variant ang natukoy, kung kailan nakolekta ang sample sa kalagitnaan ng Disyembre 2022.

“All Omicron variants tend to have a milder disease course as they settle less in the lungs and more in the upper nasal passages, causing symptoms like fever, tiredness, and loss of smell,” ayon sa DOH.

Sa kasalukuyan, nanatili ang BA.5 na dominanteng strain sa Pilipinas na may 12,658 kaso. Kasunod ang BA.2.3.20 na may 3,881 cases, XBB na may 949 cases, XBC na may 610 cases, at BA.4 na may 325 cases.
