P9 milyong puslit na mga gulay nakumpiska sa Valenzuela

MANILA, Philippines — Tinatayang aabot sa P9 milyong halaga ng smuggled agricultural products gaya ng mga red onions, carrots, luya at munggo ang nakumpiska ng mga tauhan ng Bureau of Customs (BOC), katuwang ang Manila International Container Port-Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (MICP-CIIS),sa isang bodega sa Brgy. Ugong, Valenzuela City.

Ang pinagsanib na puwersa mula sa MICP-CIIS at Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Task Force Aduana ang nanguna sa operasyon sa bodega na pagmamay-ari ng Morehouse Marketing.

Nagprisinta ang mga anti-smuggling operatives ng Letter of Autho­rity (LOA) na pirmado ni Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero sa mga kinatawan ng bodega at kaagad na si­nimulan ang inspeksiyon na nagresulta sa pagkakadiskubre ng may 8,000 sako ng iba’t ibang agricultural products tulad ng  red onions, mga luya at mga munggo.

Ayon kay Customs Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence Raniel Ramiro, ang serye ng mga operasyon ay bahagi ng pinaigting na anti-smuggling efforts ng kagawaran.

“This is not a one- or two-time thing. This is a continuous effort from the bureau and the MICP-CIIS. The goal is not to allow even one sack of agri products to enter the country illegally because we cannot saturate the market with these smuggled products. It will have such a huge impact on the economy, on our farmers,” pagtiyak pa ni Ramiro.

Ang naturang ­operasyon ay isinagawa sa kaparehong linggo kung saan nakumpiska rin ng grupo ang P50 milyong halaga ng agricultural products, frozen seafood, cosmetic pro­ducts, at infringed goods.
