Hog products galing China, ban sa Pinas

MANILA, Philippines - Matapos makumpirmang may outbreak ng foot and mouth disease (FMD) ay pansamantala munang ipinagbawal ang pag-import ng mga hog products mula sa Jiangsu, China.

Sa ilalim ng Memorandum Order No. 13, Series of 2014  na nilagdaan ni Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala, inutos nito ang agarang pagsuspinde ng pagproseso, pag-evaluate ng mga aplikasyon at issuance ng import permits ng  hog products mula sa Zhoutang Village, Yingtan, Jiangsu, China.

Inatasan ng Agriculture chief ang lahat ng DA veterinary quarantine officers/inspectors sa lahat ng mga pangunahing daungan na kumpiskahin at pigilan ang lahat ng FMD-prone animals mula sa Jiangsu at iba pang kahalintulad na produkto papasok ng ating bansa para maingatan ang kalusugan ng taumbayan.

Sa ulat ni Dr. Zhang Zhonqui ng  China Animal Disease Control Center na ang FMD virus ay naka-infect sa isang  piggery farm sa Lianghong Company, Sihong, Suquian, Jiangsu, China. Ang  FMDV Stereotype A outbreak ay kinumpirma ng Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute, Office International des Epizooties (OIE) reference laboratory sa pamamagitan ng  virus isolation.
