Tulong ng global sports community asam ng POC chief

MANILA, Philippines — Nakikipag-ugnayan si Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino sa iba’t ibang bansa sa global sports community sa ginanap na XXVII Associa­tion of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) General Assembly sa Cascais, Portugal.

Target ni Tolentino na mas lalo pang mapalakas ang sports program ng Pilipinas sa pakikipagtulungan sa ibang malalakas na bansa.

Nakipagkita si Tolentino kay International Cycling Union president David Lappartient kung saan napag-usapan ang koneksiyon ng Pilipinas sa world governing body for cycling.

“It was again a fruitful meeting with Mr. Lappartient as our discussion revolved mainly about our sport, cycling,” ani Tolentino.

Nauna nang nagkita sina Tolentino at Lappartient sa isang testimonial dinner noong Paris 2024 Olympics sa France.

Sina Tolentino at Lappartient ay parehong lea­ders ng kani-kanyang national Olympic committees (NOCs) at cycling national federation.

Ginanap ang ANOC Awards 2024 sa Estoril Congress Center kung saan kinilala ng organization ang mga top athletes, best-performing NOCs at sports leaders.

Nanguna sa programa si ANOC president Robin Mitchell ng Fiji habang nagpaalam na si outgoing International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach sa pamamagitan ng farewell message na nagbigay ng inspirasyon sa 400 sports officials na dumalo sa assembly.

Magbibitiw na si Bach bilang IOC president habang nagsumite na ng kandidatura si Lappartient para pumalit sa puwesto nito.
