PSC fund-raiser para sa Paris Olympians at Paralympians

MANILA, Philippines — Pondong P2.5 milyon ang inaasahan ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) na makukuha sa isasagawang Invitational Golf Cup sa Biyernes sa Canlubang Golf and Country Club.

Ito ang gagamiting pondo para sa kampanya ng mga national athletes at differently-abled athletes sa 2024 Paris Olympics at Paralympic Games.

Higit sa 140 golfers ang hahataw sa one-day tournament na kinabibilangan ng mga national athletes, PSC at Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) officials, celebrities, sponsors, sports media at paying participants.

Nagkumpirma rin ng paglahok si Barangay Ginebra team captain LA Tenorio habang si PSC chairman Richard Bachmann ang gagawa ng ce­remonial tee off kasama si dating PSA president at Philippine Star sports editor Lito Tacujan at iba pang surprise celebrities at sports personalities.

“Ang cash na mari-raise natin diyan is between P2 million to P2.5 million. I’m not sure about the e­xact amount until it comes out. But iyon ang nasabi ni chairman (Bachmann) ganoon na iyong nare-raise niya in terms of cash,” ani PSC Commissioner Fritz Gaston kahapon sa Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum sa conference hall ng Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

Umabot na sa 15 ang atletang pupuntirya ng gold medal sa Paris Olympics sa Hulyo 26 hanggang Agosto 11.

Ang mga ito ay sina pole vaulter EJ Obiena, boxers Eumir Marcial, Carlo Paalam, Aira Villegas, Nesthy Petecio at Hergie Bacyadan, gymnasts Carlos Yulo, Aleah Finnegan, Levi Jung-Rui­vivar at Emma Malabuyo, weightlifters John Ceniza, Elreen Ann Ando at Va­nessa Sarno, rower Joanie Delgaco at fencer Sam Catantan.
