CALATAGAN, Batangas, Philippines — Buong-pusong iaalay ni Philippine polo team member Mikee Romero sa kanyang namayapang anak ang mga laro niya sa 30th Southeast Asian Games.

“I’ll dedicate all our games to Miguel, he should have been playing here,” wika ni Romero kay Miguel sa inagurasyon ng Bamboo Pavilion sa loob ng Miguel Romero Polo Field.

Pumanaw si Miguel sa edad na 22-anyos noong Disyembre 14, 2017.

Lubhang malapit sa isa’t isa sina Romero at Miguel kaya ipinangalan ang nasabing playing field sa kanya.

Pinasalamatan ni Romero ang mga stakeholders – the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) at Philippine Sports Commission – para sa katuparan ng pa­ngarap ng kanyang pamilya.

“Just like me, Miguel was athletic and he wanted to represent the country that’s why I’m thankful sa kanilang tatlo for Miguel finally realized his wish,” ani Romero.

“Ngayon, he’s still part of the SEA Games because the whole field is named (after) sa kanya – in his me­mory,” dagdag pa nito.

Si Romero ay isa sa mga founding members ng Phi­lippine National Federation of Polo Players (PNFPP) at miyembro ng national team.

Nagsimula na kahapon ang mga laro sa polo competition sa Hacienda Bigaa kung saan kaagad yumukod ang Team Philippines sa Brunei, 8-8.5, sa 0-2 event.
