MANILA, Philippines — Matapos si 2016 Olympic Games silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz ay sina Peter Gabriel Magnaye at Thea Marie Pomar ang nagbigay naman ng karangalan sa Pilipinas.

Umiskor sina Magnaye at Pomar ng 21-9, 21-9 panalo laban kina fourth-seed Oliver Leydon-Davis at Anona Pak ng New Zealand para angkinin ang mixed doubles gold medal sa 2019 Sydney International Badminton sa Sydney, Australia.

Nauna nang tinalo nina Magnaye at Pomar sa semifinals sina fifth pick Po Li-Wei at Yu Chien Hui ng Chinese Taipei, 21-13, 21-11. Kamakalawa ay bumuhat naman si Diaz ng dalawang bronze medal sa IWF World Championships sa Thailand.

Tinalo rin ng tambalan nina Magnaye at Pomar sina No. 6 Michael Soon How Lim at Victoria He, 21-13, 21-13 sa first round, sina Dylan Soedjasa at Justine Villegas ng Australia, 21-12, 21-16 sa second round at sina Ming Chuen Lim at Yingzi Jiang ng Australia, 21-15, 21-17 sa quarterfinals.

Nabigo naman si Magnaye katuwang si Alvin Morada na makuha ang gintong medalya sa men’s doubles matapos yumukod kina Chen Xin-Yuan at Lin Yu-Chieh ng Chinese Taipei, 21-9, 11-21, 15-21 sa finals.

Sa kabuuan ay humataw ang mga Pinoy shuttlers ng isang gold, isang silver at isang bronze me-dal na mula kina Morada at Alyssa Yasbel Leonardo sa mixed doubles.
