Richardson nagtala ng bagong Phl record
MANILA, Philippines - Alam ni Fil-Am sprinter Kayla Richardson na kailangan siyang lumahok sa nakaraang National Open na idinaos sa Ilagan City, Isabela pa-ra mapasama sa natio-nal team na isasabak sa 2017 Southeast Asian Games sa Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia sa Agosto.
Ngunit hindi niya ito ginawa.
Sa kanyang pagsali sa 2017 Battle on the Bayou sa Louisiana, USA ay nagtala si Richardson ng bilis na 54.06 segundo sa women’s 400-meter run para magtayo ng bagong Philippine record.
Binura ni Richardson, kumuha ng gold medal sa 100m run sa Singapore SEA Games noong 2015, ang dating Philippine mark na 54.18 segundo na itinala ni Fil-Canadian Zion Corrales-Nelson noong 2014 sa Langley, Canada.
Ang bagong Philippine record din ni Ri-chardson ang sumira sa SEAG bronze medal standard na 54.26 segundo ni Malaysian Shereen Samson Vallabouy sa Singapore noong 2015.
“She wasn't in the National Open although she (Richardson) and her father-coach (Jeffrey) were aware at the get go of the importance of the event and it being a requirement for SEAG,” sabi ni PATAFA president Philip Ella Juico. “Congra-tulations if its true, we wish her luck. We're pre-occupied with so many concerns and focused on SEAG and it'll take time to discuss this.”
“Her handlers and advisers who should've know better probably gave them wrong advice on our resolve in carrying out this rule.”
