Vargas, Magdaleno pinaghahandaang maigi sina Pacquiao at Donaire
MANILA, Philippines – Para paghandaan ang kani-kanilang mga championship fight ay kumuha ng mga bagong trainers sina world welterweight titlist Jessie Vargas at super bantamweight challenger Jessie Magdaleno.
Sa pamamagitan ng facebook ay nakilala ni Vargas si Dewey Cooper, isang dating Muay Thai champion at cruiserweight contender.
“We tried it a couple days and after the first day I was pretty much convinced,” sabi ni Vargas. “But we still gave it two, three days. That’s when I told him, ‘I want you to train me and I’d be happy to have you as my head coach.”
Nakatakdang itaya ni Vargas (27-1-0, 10 KOs) ang kanyang suot na World Boxing Organization welterweight crown laban kay Sen. Manny Pacquiao (58-6-2, 38 KOs) sa Nob-yembre 5 sa Thomas & Mack Center sa Las Vegas, Nevada.
Sa kanyang anim na taon na professional boxing career ay naging trainer ng 27-anyos na si Vargas sina Roy Jones Jr., Roger Mayweather at Erik Morales.
Kumpiyansa si Cooper na tatalunin ni Vargas ang 37-anyos na si Pacquiao para sa comeback fight ng Filipino world eight-division champion.
“I was fascinated with his sparring skills. This is not some trainer meeting some fighter. We have a long history together, so I knew what Jessie was capable of,” wika ni Cooper.
Hinugot naman ni Magdaleno si trainer Manny Robles para sa kanyang paghahamon sa five-division world champion Nonito ‘The Filipino Flash’ Donaire, Jr.
“It’s a great change,” pahayag ng 24-anyos na si Magdaleno. “I got everything I want out here, I got the beach, I got great people around me.”
Puntirya ni Magdaleno (23-0-0, 17 KOs) na maagaw sa 33-anyos na si Donaire (37-3-0, 24 KOs) ang suot nitong WBO super bantamweight title.
