Valdez, Ateneo babawi na lang sa UAAP women’s volleyball

MANILA, Philippines – Umaasa si Alyssa Valdez na magiging inspirasyon at hindi pampababa ng morale ang nangyaring kabiguan ng Ateneo Lady Eagles na makuha ang titulo sa Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference title.

Natalo ang Lady Eagles sa National University Lady Bulldogs sa ikatlo at huling laro sa best-of-three finals, 25-21, 26-24, 25-19 upang mawalan ng saysay ang magandang panimula sa liga sa pamamagitan ng 10-0 panimula.

“We’re doing very well in the past games but we can’t control everything. We’re hoping this is going to be an inspiration for us. If you lose, there’s no way for us but to push ourselves as a team,” wika ni Valdez.

Hanap ng Ateneo ang ikatlong sunod na titulo sa UAAP women’s volleyball na magsisimula sa susunod taon para magkaroon sila ng sapat na panahon na maitama ang mga naging mali sa V-League.

Kailangang magpursigi sa pagsasanay ang Lady Eagles dahil hindi magiging madali ang gagawing title-defense dahil ang iba pang pitong koponan ay may kakayahang manalo.

Wala na sa NU ang mga beteranang sina Dindin Manabat at Rubie de Leon pero sapat pa ang puwersa ng koponan dahil babalik sina Myla Pablo, Aiko Urdas at Jorelle Singh sa koponan. Isa pang hindi puwedeng biruin ay ang multi-titled na La Salle Lady Archers.

“This season is going to be an interesting season dahil maraming players sa ibang teams ang nasa last year na ng paglalaro.

Emotionally at mentally, iba ang magiging feeling. Hopefully, ma-challenge kami and we should try to polish everything, work as a team and be consistent,” dagdag pa ni Valdez. (AT)
