Mga atletang may tsansa sa Olympics susuportahan ng PSC

MANILA, Philippines – Susuportahan ng Phi­lippine Sports Commis­sion ang lahat ng natio­nal sports associations (NSAs) na naghahangad na makapagpapasok ng at­leta sa 2016 Olympic Games.

Ngunit nilinaw ni PSC chairman Richie Gar­cia na lahat ng qualifying events para sa 28 sports na lalaruin sa 2016 Rio Olympics, na­ka­takda sa Aug. 5-21, ay bukas sa lahat ng NSAs.

Ang mga quali­fying events ay para lamang sa mga may tsan­sang ma­kakuha ng tiket para sa 2016 Olympics.

“Not because there’s a qualifying tournament means we have to send 20 athletes because we might end up throwing our money away,” wika ni Garcia.

Kailangang matukoy ng mga NSAs ang ka­­nilang mga atletang may pag-asang manalo sa qualifying meets.

“The NSAs will have to justify why these ath­letes are joining the qua­lifying tournaments. If they can prove that these athletes are qualified then the PSC comes in,” ani Garcia.

Noong 2012 London Olympics ay 11 atleta lamang ang nakapaglaro at lumahok sa walong sports.

Ang mga ito ay sa archery, athletics, boxing, cycling, judo, shooting, swimming at weightlif­ting.

Si boxer Mark An­tho­ny Barriga ay naka­pa­sok sa round-of-16, ha­bang nasibak ang 10 sa kanilang mga events.
