Nicaraguan ang balak isunod ni Viloria

MANILA, Philippines – May kalaban na kaagad na iniisip si dating WBC/IBF light flyweight at WBA/WBO flyweight champion Brian Viloria.

Sinabi kahapon ni Viloria na gusto niyang hamunin si WBC titlist Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez ng Nicaragua at kumpiyansa siyang mananalo matapos magtala ng apat na sunod na tagumpay, kabilang dito ang first round knockout win kay Omar Soto ng Mexico noong Sabado sa Hollywood.

“We are targeting Chocolatito at the moment,” wika ni Viloria sa WBC 112-pound titleholder.  “I feel like I’m good to go for another title shot, given the momentum I’m on with four straight wins, three of them by KO.”

Naipanalo ng 34-anyos na si Viloria ang 10 sa huli niyang 11 laban at ang tanging kabiguan niya ay ang split decision loss kay Mexican Juan Francisco Estrada na umagaw sa suot niyang WBA/WBO crowns sa Macau noong April 2013.

Matapos ang kabiguan kay Estrada ay buma-ngon si Viloria para talunin sina Juan Herrera, Jose Alfredo Zuniga, Armando Vazquez at Soto.

Noong 2010 ay binigo ni Viloria si Soto via split 10-round decision sa Ynares Sports Arena sa Pasig.

Sa kanilang rematch ay tiniyak ng tinaguriang ‘Hawaiian Punch’ na hindi na magagamit ang scorecards matapos pabagsakin si Soto ng tatlong beses sa first round bago itinigil ng referee ang laban sa 2:02 minuto.

“Gameplan with Soto was setting up my rights with jabs and also digging to the body,” wika ni Viloria.  “Freddie (Roach) was happy and thrilled and thinks we’re ready for another title.”

Sa rematch ni Viloria kay Soto ay nasa kanyang corner sina Roach, assistant Marvin Somodio at cutman Ruben Gomez.

Sinabi ni Viloria na habang gusto niyang hamunin si Gonzalez ay may posibilidad namang mangyari ang rematch nila ni Estrada.

Ang problema lamang ay tila tinataguan ni Estrada si Viloria.

“We’re going to look at the strategy to beat either fighter (Gonzalez o Estrada) as soon as I get back to camp,” ani Viloria.  “Right now, I want to enjoy this win (kay Soto).”

Sinabi ni Gary Gittelsohn, ang manager ni Viloria, na kaagad niyang bubuksan ang usapan sa HBO para sa laban kay Gonzalez sa Madison Square Garden sa New York City sa isang pay-per-view event sa Oct. 17.

“I don’t think Estrada or Gonzalez would be able to compete with the Brian who fought Soto,” sabi ni Gittelsohn.  “Brian is a fully focused fighting machine.  His performance against Soto was flawless.  I’ve never seen him better.  Gonzalez has looked to avoid Brian.  But now, the heat is on.  Gonzalez may very well have to face the music.”

Ang weight limit para sa rematch nila ni Soto ay 113 pounds at tumimbang si Viloria ng 112 3/4 pounds, habang 114 1/2 naman si Soto. (QH)
