Arcilla-Dandan duo blinangko ang kalaban

MANILA, Philippines – Blinangko ng tambalan nina Johnny Arcilla at Kyle Joshua Dandan sina Joshua Miranda at Dennis Vitaliano, 6-0, 6-0 kahapon upang sumulong sa se-cond round sa pagsisimula ng doubles event ng 33rd Phl Columbian Association Tennis Open sa Plaza Dilao courts sa Paco, Manila kahapon.

Isang araw matapos simulan ang kampanya sa singles event ng 34-gulang na si Arcilla, nakipag-tag-team ito kay Dandan, dating world youth campaigner tungo sa ‘di inaasahang magaang tagumpay.

“Maganda ang chemistry namin sa court at sana, magtuluy-tuloy ito,” sabi ni Arcilla, ang may pinakamaraming singles titles na walo sa kabuuan.

Ang panalo ng Arcilla-Dandan duo ay nagtakda ng kanilang pagharap kina Leo Toledo at Bernan Bering na umusad sa second round matapos ang walang pagod na walkover win kontra kina Rodolfo Barquin at Joshua Kinaadman.

Hindi rin naman pinawisan sina PJ Tierro at Ronard Joven matapos ang win by default sa mga no-show na sina Inigo Cagui-ron at Butch Mejico.

Susunod nilang kalaban sina Jun Cortez at Jet Tangalin, na nanalo kina Al Khaidi Jainul at Wilson Oblea, 6-1, 6-3.

Ang iba pang opening day winners ay sina Jomar Arcilla at Roel Capangpa-ngan, John Altiche at Jason Benitez, Roderick Agna at Danilo Olosin, Akio Sy at Ernesto Pantua, Hakeem Cariga at Francisco Santos at ang Jun Alcoseba-Arc Dolorito tandem.

Ang torneo ay handog ng Cebuana Lhuillier at Metro Global Holdings katulong si  Hon. Emmanuel ‘Manny’  Pacquiao at ang Dunlop, Fujidenzo/Whirlpool, Babolat, Head, Accel, Malate Bayview Mansion, Coca-Cola Bottlers Phils. Inc., at iba pa.
