Fronda, Sambile UAAP Athletes of the Year

MANILA, Philippines - Itinanghal sina chess sensation Jan Jodilyn Fronda ng La Salle at Far Eastern University (FEU) women’s basketball star Camille Sambile bilang seniors co-Athlete of the Year sa UAAP Season 76’s clo-sing ceremonies kagabi sa Century Park Hotel Grand Ballroom.

Pumukaw din ng atensyon si University of the East (UE) fencer Divine Romero na nanalo ng juniors AOY trophy.

Ang pinakakuminang sa lahat sa dalawang oras na programa ay ang Green Archers na ginawaran ng general championship para sa seniors division sa ikalawang sunod na season.

Hindi lamang kumopo sina Fronda at Sambile ng MVP honors sa kani-kanilang event kungdi pinagbidahan din nila ang Phl National team na kanilang kinabilangan sa mga kompetisyon sa ibang bansa.

Ang 20-gulang na si Fronda ay tumapos bilang 28th sa 2013 World Junior Chess Championship sa Kocaeli, Turkey at lumaro rin sa ASEAN Age-Group championship sa Thailand noong nakaraang taon.

Si Fronda ang naghatid sa De La Salle sa ikaapat na sunod na women’s chess championship at nakopo rin niya ang ikatlong sunod na MVP plum.

Bagama’t bigo ang Lady Tamaraws na idepensa ang kanilang women’s basketball crown, nakopo ni Sambile ang kanyang unang MVP award.

Kabilang din si Sambile,  Hotel and Restaurant Management senior, sa Perlas Pilipinas mainstays na kumopo ng silver medal noong 2013 Southeast Asian Games women’s basketball competitions sa Myanmar.

Tinanggap naman ni Carmelita Mateo ng Season 77 host UE ang UAAP colors na simbolo ng pagsasalin ng hosting chores mula kay UAAP Season 76 President Fr. Maximino Rendon, CM.
