PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas -- Ang depensa pa rin ang sasandigan ng back-to-back champions na Miami Heat para sa darating na season.

Mula sa pagbibigay sa kalaban ng 100.6 points per game sa unang 17 laro sa nakaraang season, pinaliit ito ng Heat sa 93.6 points per game sa 65 laban.

Ang Miami ang ikaapat na koponang may pinakamagandang depensa sa nakaraang season.

Sa pagtatapos ng kanilang six-day practice sa trai­ning camp sa Bahamas, sinabi ni LeBron James na mas pinahigpit pa nila ang kanilang depensa para sa ha­ngad na Grand Slam ngayong season.

“We knew we didn’t start off the season like we wan­ted to defensively,’” wika ni James, ang four-time Most Valuable Player. “But we knew. I think when you have a problem and you face it, it’s very correctable, and we knew that. So one thing we talked about was defending and finishing.”

Magtatapos ang training camp ng Heat sa Oktubre 28 dalawang araw bago itaas ng Miami ang kanilang ikalawang sunod na championship banner at buksan ang season kontra sa Chicago Bulls.

Sa nakaraang season ay nanalo ang Heat sa 66 regular-season games, tampok dito ang isang 27-game winning streak.

“Sharpen. Sharpen the sword,” ani forward Shane Battier sa pinapahigpit na depensa ng Miami. “We won games early last year and didn’t look good. We dropped a few that, looking back at it, we should have won.”
