2 gold kay kayak athlete Escallona

MANILA, Philippines - Dalawang gintong medalya ang sinikwat ni Janeth Escallona sa 5,000-meter touring kayak at sa dragon boat tandem kayak event ng 2013 POC-PSC National Games kahapon sa Manila Bay sa Roxas Boulevard.

Naglista ang 27-an-yos na si Escallona ng tiyempong 30 minuto at 25.14 segundo para kunin ang gintong medalya sa 5,000-meter touring kayak at ungusan sina Rosalyn Esguerra (31:27.95) at Leonita Banlat (34:28.11).

Nakipagtambal naman ang tubong Balete, Batangas kay Edgar Galang sa pagpoposte ng oras na 35:14.89 para pitasin ang ginto sa dragon boat tandem kayak event.

Si Escallona ay nag-uwi ng gold medal sa 2004 Southeast Asian Championships.

Sa Rizal Memorial Diamond, pinayukod ng Rizal Technological ang ILLAM, 10-3, habang blinangko naman ng National University, ang runner up sa nakaraang UAAP season, ang Titans, 6-0 sa baseball competition.

Pormal na sinimulan kahapon ang 2013 National Games sa Ninoy Aquino Stadium na pinangunahan nina PSC chairman Richie Garcia at POC president Jose ‘Peping’ Cojuangco, Jr.

Pakakawalan ngayon ang mga kompetisyon sa billiards (Rizal Memorial Billiards Hall), cycling (Amoranto at Daang Hari), football (RMSC football field), lawn tennis (RMSC tennis center), taekwondo (RMSC at Ninoy Aquino Stadium) at table tennis (Amoranto).

Mayroon ding nakatayang gintong paglalabanan  sa archery, arnis, athletics, badminton, baseball, beach volleyball, bowling, boxing, canoe/kayak, chess, dancesport, dragon boat, futsal, golf, gymnastics, judo, karatedo, motocross, muay thai, pencat silat, powerlifting, rugby, sepak takraw, sailing, shooting, swimming, triathlon, volleyball, weightlifting, wind surfing, wrestling at wushu.
