MANILA, Philippines -  Pinangunahan ni Meldion Piñon ng Quezon City Wrestling Team ang bansa nang angkinin ang gintong me­dalya sa 50 kg. junior (ages 18-20) men’s freestyle sa 6th Southeast Asia Junior and Cadet Wrestling Cham­pionships sa Suphanburi, Thailand.

Tinalo ni Piñon, three-time National youth champion, si Le Aung Tung ng Vietnam para sa gold medal.

Sinikwat naman nina Marlou Onrubia (55 kg. junior freestyle) ng Zamboanga City, Joshua Gayuchan ng Ifugao (53 kg. cadet Greco-Roman) at Rosegyn Ma­labja (49 kg. cadet women) ng Baguio City ang sil­ver medal sa kani-kanilang mga events.

Ang mga kumuha naman ng bronze medal ay sina Greco-Roman wrestlers Michael Jay Cater Sedano ng Tay­tay, Vince Palanca ng Mandaluyong City at Jef­fer­son Manatad ng Quezon City; freestylists Jerald Bo­sikaw ng Baguio City, Ronil Tubog ng Dumaguete Ci­ty at Joseph Cañolas ng Taytay; at woman wrestler Kristine Jambora ng New Era University.

Ang 11 sa 17 miyembro ng koponan ay pawang na­kakuha ng medalya.
