Combo on the Run docu-feature ng Eraserheads, may premiere sa San Diego Comic-Con

Magkakaroon ng world premiere ang documentary feature ng Eraserheads: Combo on the Run sa July 26 at the San Diego Comic-Con, “the largest convention of its kind in the world” (ayon sa Forbes), which transitioned from specialist comic-book, sci-fi, and fantasy hub to mammoth multi-genre gathering since its inception in 1970.

Ang Eraserheads: Combo on the Run ay sinulat at dinirek ni Maria Diane Ventura. At ito ang kanyang first feature since 2021’s much-lauded Deine Farbe (Best German Feature, Berlin Festival; Best Director, International Film Festival Manhattan).

Ang banda na binubuo nina Ely Buendia, Buddy Zabala, Marcus Adoro and Raymund Marasigan, ay kasalukuyang nasa kanilang Huling El Bimbo world tour sweeping cities of US and Canada, at itatampok din sa SDCC-exclusive issue sa hit Filipino-American indie comic The Legendary Lumpia Squad. At the same time, a panel dedicated to the Lumpia universe is also scheduled on July 26, 7-8 p.m., at Room 6 BCF of the San Diego Convention Center.

Si Ely, the Eraserheads’ singer and chief songwriter, ay dadalo sa panel kasama ang creator ng Lumpia Squad na si Patricio Ginesla at ang legendary artist na si Whilce Portacio (X-Men, Stone). Makakasama rin siya sa exclusive autograph signing na nakatakda sa susunod na araw, July 27.

Sinasamba sa Pinoy alt-rock noong dekada ‘90 at higit pa, si Ely at ang mga kasamahan sa banda na sina Raymund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, at Marcus Adoro ay, sa paraan ng pagsasalita, ay tinuturing na music superheroes sa mata ng mga tagahanga lalo na ng Pinoy fans at ganundin sa ibang bansa.

Nagsimula ang production ng Combo... nung 2022 kasabay ng pagtatanghal ng Huling El Bimbo: ‘a monumental gathering that provided reprieve to a nation still reeling from the effects of a divisive political year. The feature ultimately zeroes in on how this “unlikely group of disbanded punks” was able to provide healing while, ironically, grappling for it themselves.’
