Janine at Elijah, tinanggap ang award nila last year!

Noong isang gabi lang finally natanggap ni Janine Gutierrez ang kanyang Best Actress trophy sa nakaraang Entertainment Editors’ Choice  or The EDDYS.

Nagsilbi ngang host ang itinanghal na Best Actress sa 6th EDDYS  para sa pelikulang Bakit Di Mo Sabihin? kasama ang Kapuso Millennial It Girl na si Gabbi Garcia at movie at TV actor Jake Ejercito.

Ganundin si Elijah Canlas na nagulat din nang sabihin ng kanyang co-presenter na si Nikki Valdez na tatanggapin niya rin ang kanyang Best Actor trophy na napanalunan din niya last year.

Anyway, ginanap nga noong nakaraang Linggo ng gabi ang The 7th EDDYS sa Ceremonial Hall ng Marriott Grand Ballroom, Newport World Resorts.

Nagkaroon ng espesyal na pagtatanghal rito ang ang award-winning singer na si Jed Madela, Ultimate Singer-Songwriter Ogie Alcasid, drag queens Rampa Reynas at ng mga promising young artists na sina Elisha Ponti at Andrea Gutierrez.

Nagsilbing Red Carpet host naman ang veteran radio-online personality na si Mr. Fu.

Naging isa sa mga highlight ng event ang pagbibigay-pugay sa bagong batch ng EDDYS Icons na itinuturing nang mga haligi ng movie industry na kinabibilangan nina Nova Villa, Leo Martinez, Lito Lapid, Eva Darren, at Gina Alajar.

Isang posthumous award din ang ipinagkaloob sa yumaong comic strip creator, movie producer at direktor na si Carlo J. Caparas, na tinanggap ng kanyang mga anak na sina Peach at CJ Caparas na emosyonal at todo ang pasasalamat sa ipinagkaloob na parangal ng samahan ng mga entertainment editors, ang Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors o SPEEd.

Iginawad naman ng SPEEd ang The EDDYS Box Office Heroes kina Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, Alden Richards, Julia Montes, Kathryn Bernardo, at Piolo Pascual na malaki ang ambag sa muling pagbangon ng Philippine movie industry.

Ang Isah V. Red Award (ang mga walang sawang tumutulong at nagbibigay inspirasyon sa mga kababayan nating nangangailangan) ay personal na tinanggap ni dating Ilocos Sur Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson habang ang tumanggap ng parangal para kay QC Mayor Joy Belmonte ay ang kanyang amang si dating Mayor at Cong. Sonny Belmonte.

Ang Joe Quirino Award ay personal ding tinanggap ng beteranang broadcast journalist na si Korina Sanchez, habang ang veteran entertainment columnist na si Ronald Constantino na ginawaran ng Manny Pichel Award ay nagpadala ng mensahe.

Ngayong taon, ang Ri­sing Producer Circle Award ay tinanggap ng Mentorque Productions, ang nag-produce ng mga pelikulang My Father Myself at Mallari na tinanggap ni Bryan Dy.

Bahagi ng pasasalamat niya “Receiving this award is not just a personal achievement but a reminder of the responsibility we have to the industry. Napanalunan naman ng pelikulang About Us But Not About ang major categories : Best Picture, Best Director for Jun Lana, Best Screenplay, and Best Editing.

Gulat naman si Piolo nang tawagin ang kanyang pangalan bilang Best Actor.

Unexpected daw dahil nga matitindi rin ang mga nakalaban niya sa pagka-best actor.

Ang mga nakatunggali niya sa naturang acting category ay sina Elijah Canlas (Keys to the Heart), Dingdong Dantes (Rewind), Cedrick Juan (GomBurZa), Alden Richards (Five Breakups And A Romance), at Romnick Sarmenta (About Us But Not About).”
