“It’s a tough job. It’s something that we decided no’ng 2020. We signed a paper just between us no’ng April 20, 2020, very quiet and that’s our favorite number talaga. We wanted 4-20-2020, since that’s special date, special number for us. Nagkataon lang talaga na nagka-COVID at pandemic no’ng time na ‘yon. But we decided to still push through all the way until April. Naka-on pa rin ‘yung wedding invitation, until we decided mid-April to cancel na talaga kasi naka-mask na lahat, extreme lockdown. So hindi na namin tinuloy ‘yung ceremony but the signing of the papers, tinuloy,” pagtatapat sa amin ni Rafael sa Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.
“Yeah, eventually. Kasi na-realize din na namin na ‘yung ceremony is for everyone. For us, we’re happy the way it is talaga. So I think we owe them pakain,” dagdag ng aktor.
“We have a very different dynamic. ‘Yung sinabi ko kasi dati, it used to be so easy for me to just bitawan ‘yung ‘I love you’ na three words sa mga partners ko. Like when you feel something intense, ang hirap sabihin sa totoong buhay kasi totoong-totoo eh. So between us, we don’t usually say ‘I love you.’ Parang alam ko na eh without her saying eh.
“We’re very expressive, very malambing, deep inside we barely have to express it because we know na kasi eh, so it’s weird. Kasi dati no’ng na-in love ako, ‘Hey! I’m in love, such a great feeling.’ Pero when I realized I was in love with her, oh no, ‘Guys, I think I’m in love. This is gonna be hassle.’ So, mas hassle talaga kasi love mo na eh. Kasi you got my heart eh, wala ako magawa. Love is such a difficult force to fight against. When you want to give something, when you want to give your whole heart, it’s so tough not to do it when you’re in love,” pagdedetalye pa niya.
“Well, para sa akin kasi tito boy, I’ve experienced with every leading lady different talaga. Different dynamics, different chemistry, different ugali. This one, may naudlot kasi kaming project ni Bea Alonzo. So ngayon it’s coming to fruition. I’m just super happy na it’s Widows’ War talaga.
“She’s very, very professional and ang lalim. Ang lalim ng acting niya. I really had to take dig talaga para lang ma-match ‘yung intensity ng mata ni Bea. It was quite a challenge but siguro magsisinungaling ako kapag sinabi kong hindi ako na-intimidate at first. Pero eventually we adjusted to each other’s energy. And I think what we’ve created, some kind of a good chemistry,” kwento ni Rafael.
