Nahirapang pumayat... Moira, naging bulimic ng dalawang taon!
Ibang-iba ang aura ngayon ng multi-platinum singer-songwriter Moira dela Torre.
Hindi lang dahil lutang ang pagiging fit and talagang slim siya these days.
Malinaw na napatunayan niya ang kanyang pagpapahalaga sa sarili pagkatapos ng mga personal na laban sa usapin ng pagmamahal.
Inamin nga ni Moira na malaki ang pagbabago sa kanyang buhay sa loob ng two and a half years. “Not just what happened physically, but the healing I experienced inside,” pagtatapat niya.
“I definitely changed a lot since the major weight loss.”
Dagdag pa ni Moira na hindi madali sa kanya ang magpapayat.
Ang ganda nga kasi ng pagkapayat niya. Bumagay sa mukha niya.
“In 2020, I started all these diet. I went vegan, keto.
“I’ve tried intermittent. I tried everything.
“When I stopped putting pressure on myself and started allowing myself to just be me, that was when I stopped feeling the pressure. I’m sorry, I might have to say this trigger warning. I became bulimic for two years and it only worsened my situation and got me to gain more weight.
“When I stopped putting pressure on myself to just be, doon parang kumalma ang katawan ko and I started losing weight gradually. I think alam ng katawan mo kapag naaalagaan siya nang tama. Alam ng katawan natin kapag minamahal siya nang tama.
“Don’t be too hard on yourself. I know that’s such a cliché thing, but to be honest, how I started losing weight, it was when I stopped trying,” mahabang kuwento niya tungkol sa prosesong pinagdaanan.
At mas masaya para sa kanya na naramdaman ang physical change na resulta ng kanyang pagsisikap. “I’m just very, very thankful that the change happened so gradually,” dagdag niya.
“It wasn’t anything quick. It started from within. Ang daming magagandang change na nagbago. I didn’t realize this is something I could do.
“Self-love is not a selfish thing. To the people who are trying to lose weight, I want you to care more about yourself. It had to take so much time to think that I was beautiful before. And then, the physical change happened. We are beautiful.
“For people who are going on a journey that I had been on, don’t be too hard on yourself. Be unapologetic when it comes to choosing yourself. It’s not a bad thing.”
At sa kanyang busy calendar, mahalaga pa rin para kay Moira ang pagtulog.
Magkakaroon siya ng US concert tour ngayong April. “Tinatapos ko rin ang album so I’m in a work mood. That does make me feel good accomplishing things and finishing something I started.
“I know matagal nang dapat matapos ang album. But I know good things take time. After a long time of waiting, that makes me feel very good.”
At pagdating pala sa performing in public, hindi siya masyadong bilib sa kanyang ginagawa. “I think kung titignan ko, mas marami naman na mas magaling and mas deserving in terms of talent. But I know that I work hard and I’ve done my part. I also know that I will not be where I am now if not for the people around me.”
Samantala, grateful si Moira sa kanyang newest product endorsement para sa Bona Slim 15-in-1 coffee. “I will not take full credit for what I have now,” aniya. “I relate very much with the vision that Bona Slim had. They gave me so much creative freedom.
“The whole family welcomed me. They were at every shoot. They were at every meeting. I’m very, very grateful.

“That included my songwriting. When we went to the studio, I really felt the respect and I really, really appreciate that. I love that they gave me their message and how we could address it and how to put it into a song.”
