TV5 anchors tila may pasaring sa 'AI sportscasters' ng GMA

MANILA, Philippines — Tila biniro ng ilang broadcasters ng Kapatid Network ang paggamit ng Artificial Intelligence (AI) ng kanilang mga kaindustriya, bagay na hinihinala nang marami bilang ang A.I. sportscasters ng GMA sa National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 99.

Sa programang "Frontline Pilipinas" sa TV5 nitong Lunes, tila ginawang katatawanan ni Kaladkaren ang desisyong ito ng GMA sa kanyang closing spiel. 

“Hindi po ‘to A.I., ako po si Kaladkaren,” banggit niya.

Sa isa pang video mula sa programa, makikita na ang kanyang co-anchor na si Mikee Reyes na gumawa rin ng isang comment ukol sa AI.

“Kurutin niyo nga si [Kaladkaren] baka A.I. ka,” sabi ni Mikee. 

“Totoong tao po ako ah, mga kapatid,” dagdag pa ni Kaladkaren bago gumalaw na tila isang robot.

Maaalalang naging usap-usapan ang desisyong ito ng GMA at umani rin ng pagpuna lalo na sa social media.

Sa kabila nito, nanindigan ang GMA na hindi naman papalitan ng AI ang lahat ng kanilang reporter habang binanggit na ipagpapatuloy ang paggamit sa kanilang AI reporters na pinangalanang Maia at Marco.

“While we are for innovation, we also value training and upskilling our employees so they could be empowered in this age of AI,” sabi ni GMA senior vice president at Integrated News, Regional TV, and Synergy Oliver Victor B. Amoroso.

“Instead of seeing creativity and innovation as a threat, we hope that this initiative will start a healthy discourse on how generative AI could help news organizations improve the way we do modern journalism,” dagdag pa ni Aileen Rae Perez, ang head of social for current affairs ng GMA. — intern Matthew Gabriel
