Pinatitigil na ng Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) ang pag-o-operate ng Lyka, isang social media platform na ine-endorse ng maraming artista tulad nina Coco Martin, Nadine Lustre, Ivana Alawi, Pia Wurtzbach among others. Hindi pa pala kasi ito registered sa BSP na kailangan para payagan mag-operate ang Hong Kong based-ompany na nagagamit ng users na ibili, exchange at gamiting gift cards sa electronic mode or GEMS bilang pambayad sa kanilang mga binili o ginamit.
“The Monetary Board has ascertained that these activities make Lyka an OPS (Operator of Payment System) and is thus required to register with the BSP, which is needed before it is allowed to continue with its OPS activities,” ayon sa BSP Chair na si Benjamin Diokno sa GMA.
Ang suspension diumano ng Lyka ay pursuant to the Republic Act No. 11127 or The National Payment Systems Act (NPSA).
